Hi Ross,
I started trading August 2005 and have tried several systems. Finally I decided after learning alot that the only way to make money is to design my own system and stick with it no matter what. I trade on the 30 minute chart with the following setup.
Weighted Moving Average 20
Simple Moving Average 21
When price opens and closes above both moving averages, I go long
When price opens and closes below both averages, I go short and it has worked pretty well, first on my demo account. My
demo account is now $110,000 from $50,000 in
less than 2 months and this is alsow reflecting on my life account now.
The only thing is too stick to your rules no matter what. I had this system since 2006, but never stock to the rules. When intentionally made the decision to stick to the rules my account started growing positively.
So that is my system system using two different moving averages.
Success with your trading

Moving average crossover systems are tricky. The lag is usually so severe that they whip themselves to death. Regardless of what folks say, make sure you test the system yourself. You can do that in a spreadsheet very easily if you are testing an MA crossover.
